The housing and Development Board is the statutory board of the ministry of national Development responsible for the public housing in Singapore. It is generally credited with clearing up the squatters and slums of the 1960s and resettling residences into low cost government built housing. In public housing the ownership is limited to lease for 99-years.. Semi-public housing is governed under HUDC they have a large floor area but they are not similar to HDB. Size is usually denoted by the terms such as four room and five room or similar, and is based on the number of bedrooms in addition to the living room but newer five-room apartments come with only three bedrooms and a dining room. Some newer HDB developed flats in new towns include some condominium facilities.
